CHARLES TREMAYNE JOINS AS NEW US EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT FOR RDF MEDIA GROUP

RDF Media Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Charles Tremayne as an Executive Vice President operating out of RDF USA’s New York office, running development for the RDF group on the East Coast of the US. He will report to Chris Coelen, CEO of RDF USA and to Stephen Lambert, Chief Creative Officer of RDF Media Group. Tremayne will be charged with expanding RDF’s development and production operations on the East Coast. He will work closely with Wendy Roth, Executive Vice President of RDF USA in New York and Greg Goldman, Executive Vice President of Development for RDF USA in Los Angeles. Tremayne will also help serve as an East Coast bridge to the eight RDF Media Group content companies based in the U.K.

“We are excited to welcome Charles to the team,” says Chris Coelen. “He has great instincts as a developer and producer, and we’ll be calling on him to apply his skills in adapting formats from abroad, as well as creating original ideas – both areas in which he has a phenomenal record of success.”

“We wanted to find someone with real talent who has strong relationships with all the East Coast buyers and knew how to operate with several development teams at once,” says Stephen Lambert. “We’re delighted that Charles has agreed to come on board as he has the track record that proves he can do this extremely well.”

“It’s an exciting time to be involved in content” says Charles Tremayne. “It is perfect timing for me to join a company so well equipped to exploit the new opportunities in the United States, and help develop global brands which at their core depend on strong story-telling.”

Formerly, Tremayne was the Executive Vice President of Granada America, where since 2002 he oversaw all programming and production for Granada on the East Coast, in addition to creating shows like The First 48 for A&E and Room Raiders for MTV. At Granada, the New York production office has been responsible for hundreds of hours of programming for American cable channels, including series like The First 48 (A&E), Room Raiders (MTV), Dallas SWAT (A&E), Sensing Murder (Discovery), Airline (A&E), Taking Care of Business (TLC), House of Dreams (A&E), Dinner Takes All (TLC), Decoding Disaster (Discovery Times) and Bought and Sold (HGTV).

He was elected a Fellow of The Royal Television Society in 1999, and as executive producer has won Emmys, BAFTA and Royal Television Society Awards.

Tremayne moved to New York in 2000 to manage the new joint venture between Granada and The New York Times. The joint venture was responsible for programs and series for numerous outlets, including Nova and Frontline on PBS.

Prior to that, Tremayne lived in the UK, where he worked for Granada for over 15 years, including editing the award winning series World in Action and launching Britain’s first news magazine series Tonight with Trevor McDonald. He was also executive producer of This Morning and Controller of Factual Programs overseeing documentaries such as Disappearing World and Savage Planet.
